MilitaryAfter reaching the plateau of his technical management career with Showbiz, Wright enlisted in the United States Navy on October 1st, 1991. Wright served aboard the Aegis guided missile destroyer USS Stout (DDG-55) as a work center supervisor, Aegis Missile Guidance Systems Supervisor for Mk99 weapons Fire Control System (FCS), Mk84 (60-400Hz) Power Frequency Conversion Systems, Operational Readiness Testing System (ORTS), Ship's Gridlock System (SGS), and Phalanx / Close-In Weapons System (CIWS) operator. Successfully launched thirteen surface-to-air SM-2 standard missiles. Completed 59 courses of advanced instruction. Mr. Wright fought against the "Don't Ask - Don't Tell" military policy of discrimination. He became a victim of this policy, and left the Navy with an Honorable discharge in June of 1995. |
