Boycott - a refusal to have dealings with an organization in order to express disapproval

I have a boycott policy against Mutts & Moms

Mutts & Moms was added to my boycott list due to their failure to use good judgement when enforcing their contracts and improper repossession of an animal.

Many people became aware of the Mutts and Moms organization after seeing the tearful plea from Ellen Degeneres to return a puppy to the little girl who had adopted it.

This organization actually started with a good mission, to find good homes for animals, but recklessly carried out their business practices without considering the circumstances of the situation, and ignoring the best interests of the animal and of the little girl.

When adopting an animal from this group, you enter into a contract. To ensure that the animal goes to a good home, there is a provision of the contract which states that the animal should be returned to the organization if for some reason the adoption doesn't work out.

Again, the whole intent of this requirement is to ensure that the animal stays in a safe and caring home. When Ellen became unable to keep the puppy she had adopted, she gave it to the daughter of her hairdresser had fallen in love with the puppy. The little girl deeply loved the puppy, and the puppy had found another good home. Sounds like a win-win situation, right?

Wrong! Despite using common sense, this group chose to repossess the puppy and stripped it out of the hands of this crying little girl. There was no reason for this illegal repossession, since the puppy had ended up in a very good home.

In the haste of enforcing the contract, Mutts & Moms forgot the whole mission of their organization. Marina Baktis (owner of Mutts & Moms) treated this puppy like it was just property, and treated the little girl like she wasn't good enough to deserve the little dog.

We think that Mutts & Moms should have given this family the chance to keep the dog. Instead of inspecting the new home, or pursuing their case in court, the owners took the law into their own hands and made everyone involved very unhappy.

There is such a great need for organizations to protect animals, but this organization went way too far! We can only hope that Marina Baktis and Mutts & Moms will close shop, because people without compassion don't belong in this kind of business!
