Boycott - a refusal to have dealings with an organization in order to express disapproval

I have a boycott policy against the Boy Scouts of America

The Boy Scouts of America were added to my boycott list due to their policy of discrimination and deliberately misrepresenting membership reports.

The Boy Scouts of America were caught forging their membership numbers of minorities, and openly practicing discrimination based upon sexual orientation.

I believe that as long as this organization receives federal funding, they should not be allowed to discriminate for any reason.

Sexual orientation is a personal and private matter, and in no way determines the integrity and leadership capability of an individual. I believe that the Boy Scouts started out as an organization with tremendous benefits to our youth. By discriminating, they are setting a bad example and sending the wrong message to the children they are supposed to serve.

Until the leadership of the Boy Scouts of America chooses to include all children, there is no such thing as Boy Scouts Honor and they are an embarrassment to the youth who have excelled under their programs.

In 2000, the US Supreme Court ruled in a 5 to 4 decision that private organization can set their own membership standards.

UPDATE 10/20/2010 - In Texas, the gay father of a 9 year old Cub Scout was forced out of a leadership position and told to quit wearing shirts that support the Scouts. In North Carolina, a couple had their application rejected because they are Mormon.
