Chip CoffeyThe InterviewInterview conducted on 8/21/2008 by Gary Wright IIATLANTA - Chip Coffey is an internationally acclaimed psychic, medium, paranormal investigator, lecturer, spiritual counseler, and writer. Chip is a clairvoyant (ability to see), clairaudient (ability to hear), and clairsentient (ability to feel impressions) psychic, as well as a fully-conscious spiritual medium. CleverPeople.com first spotted Chip Coffey in December 2007 when he hosted a Biography Channel documentary entitled Psychic Kids: Children of the Paranormal. The show later aired on the A&E Network, and in 2008 they began filming six new one-hour episodes. Along with Chip's sidekick, Dr. Lisa Miller, Professor of Psychology at Columbia University, the series features children ages 8 - 19 who exhibit extrasensory abilities. The series documents how the kids cope with their abilities, particularly focusing on family, community and peer group relationships. We were amazed by Chip's teaching abilities and his method of counseling the kids, as well as their families. In 2009, with the show's success, they began filming another season of Psychic Kids: Children of the Paranormal. Next, the whole world got to witness Chip Coffey's skills as a psychic, medium, and paranormal investigator when he was featured on twenty-eight episodes of the hit series Paranormal State which aired on the A&E Network. The series revolves around members of Penn State University's Paranormal Research Society, a group of young investigators of the paranormal. Before Chip Coffey became famous on Psychic Kids: Children of the Paranormal and the Paranormal State series, he had appeared on an episode of Airline, another popular television show on the A&E Network, along with his good friend and colleague, Patti Starr. The ghost hunting duo were followed by a film crew as they investigated the Sloss Furnaces, a haunted iron mill in Birmingham, Alabama. Chip and Patti regularly travel to colleges and universities throughout the United States, presenting a program of ghostly photos, videos and audio recordings captured during their many investigations together. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution called Chip "every bit as accurate as John Edward" and InStyle magazine said, "Chip Coffey is a cross between John Edward and Dr. Phil...a psychic who doesn't hesitate to tell it like it is." Fate and Fortune, a European magazine, featured an article about Chip's visit to the ruins of the World Trade Center with the widow of a man who died there on September 11th, 2001. Do you believe in ghosts?Very little is actually known about the brain. We know that all living things have souls, and each of us have a mental connection to a dimension that can't be seen. Upon the physical death of your body, the "energy" that is your soul continues to exist. Your brain is basically a transceiver which sends and receives our sensory information to and from "the other side". This principle is what enables true psychics to experience communication with other "spirits" and also have access to knowledge about events that they normally would never know. A lot of information may be retrieved in this manner, but it can be very hard to correctly interpret the feelings and images that a psychic receives. That is why most successful psychics must use their mind in conjuction with a "spirit guide". Are Psychics Real? The Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines a psychic as "sensitive to nonphysical or supernatural forces and influences : marked by extraordinary or mysterious sensitivity, perception, or understanding." By that definition, there are many psychics. Pardon the analogy, but Psychic Power is like a penis - many people may have them, but some are better endowed than others. The Criss Angel ChallengeMagicians, including the Great Harry Houdini, are famous for exposing those who claim to have "supernatural powers". During a TV show that featured a contest between "psychics", a fight broke out between magician Criss Angel and an alleged psychic. Criss had written a message and stuffed it into his pocket. He offered the man $1,000,000 of his own money if he could correctly read the message. No one has yet read the message. Little did I know that Chip Coffey was just about to pass the "Criss Angel Challenge"! The Meeting with ChipI didn't want my interview with Chip Coffey to feel like an interrogation, so I allowed Chip to pick the place and time of our meeting. Prior to conducting an interview, I always research the subject and prepare most questions in advance. I arrived at our meeting place (a busy restaurant in Atlanta, Georgia) early, and had the interview questions in my briefcase. The place was packed and had a very long line, so I grabbed a table for us and waited on Chip's arrival. The Criss Angel Challenge was still fresh in my mind, and I wanted to issue a similar challenge to Chip so I pulled out my notebook. I was trying to think of something really hard to guess, and I wrote down the first thing that came to mind. I actually "felt" Chip's arrival, so I quickly closed the notebook and put it away in my briefcase before he came through the door. When Chip entered the room, my body became quickly overwhelmed with his aura of positive energy and a feeling of peace washed over me. I said, "Oh my god! Chip Coffey is the REAL THING!" The food line was very long, so while Chip and his friend Greta waited in the line, I was sitting at the table running all of my questions through my head. Once we all sat down to eat, Chip Coffey completely blew my mind! He somehow already knew the questions that I had prepared for him, and he began rattling off his answers. The questions were never shared with anyone and were not given to him in advance. Okay, I know that anyone who does lots of press interviews are usually bombarded by the same questions. The proof beyond a doubt of Chip's ability was the first question that he answered - it was a response to the question I had secretly scribbled in my notebook! I am so glad that I didn't bet a million dollars!!! Has Chip Changed the World?Chip has actually changed the world with his hit television series Psychic Kids: Children of the Paranormal in three major ways:
The VerdictChip Coffey joins the ranks of John Edward, James Van Praagh, and other REAL psychic mediums! (I have personally confirmed Edward and Coffey's abilities) The True Value of ChipWhether you believe in "psychic powers" or not, there can be no dispute of the value of Chip Coffey. He holds a Master's degree in Counseling, and with his insight, he is able to provide guidance and direction to many people who desperately need help. He is very religious man (Catholic) who believes in God, and he gives all credit to God and His Angels for his extraordinary abilities. As a spiritual medium, he is able to give great comfort and closure to those grieving the loss of a loved one. A Quiet GiverChip is always giving back to his community. He is one of those "quiet" givers, who unselfishly gives without publicity or worrying about taking credit for his work. He works extensively with hospice organizations, providing spiritual support to the patients and their families. He also frequently consults with victims' families and law enforcement agencies on unsolved murder and missing persons cases. A Big HeartChip is one of the biggest lover of animals that I have ever met. He is a very strong supporter of animal rescue and an active animal rights advocate. He is constantly finding good homes in order to rescue pets in need, and he has taken in several rescued animals into his own home (four rescued dogs and a rescued cat). To Chip, they are all his "little babies" and are showered by constant love and attention. I think these rescue animals literally "won the lottery" when they got rescued by Chip. He is such a good parent and they are so spoiled! UPDATE: On Thursday June 25th, 2009, Chip Coffey made a very specific prediction and when it actually came true right in front of me, I literally began shaking. I had previously proven that Chip Coffey was a true psychic, but I was still very skeptical when it comes to psychics "seeing the future". I honestly did not believe it was possible, until the events unfolded on 6/25/09. On Thursday, I first heard about the death of Ed McMahon, a few minutes later I learned about the death of Farrah Fawcette. Chip Coffey stated ahead of time that there would be THREE big celebrity deaths. I know what you are thinking - probably on any day you could find at least three celebrity deaths. The fans immediately said, "David Carradine just recently died, so he is one of the three." Chip's reply was, "It's NOT David Carradine - the three deaths will all occur within a 72 hour period." I couldn't believe that a psychic would ever be so specific, especially in making such a public prediction. If Chip was a "fake" psychic, he would have immediately claimed the death of David Carradine as the third and said that, "See! It came true!" but instead, he said no and gave very specific details of the events about to occur and their timeline. No sooner than I could type a message to Chip asking, "Please tell me we won't lose a third today", the BBC reported that Michael Jackson had just been taken to the hospital. Sadly, as the events of the day unfolded, Michael Jackson was dead. Just as Chip predicted, there were three huge celebrity deaths and they all occurred during the specific window of time that he stated. I understand that Ed McMahon and Farrah Fawcett were both old and in poor health, but there is NO ONE (except Chip Coffey) that would have ever imagined that we would lose Michael Jackson. Even as I write these words, because of Chip's accurate prediction yesterday I am having to rethink all of my personal beliefs and examine my life with a whole new perspective.
