About CherokeePride.orgCherokeePride.org was founded on Thursday, May 19th, 2011 by human rights activist Gary Wright II. After witnessing religious persecution and homophobia within the leadership of the Echota Cherokee Tribe of Alabama, Wright renounced his citizenship with the tribe on Monday, June 13th, 2011. Mr. Wright wanted to create a community that celebrates the historical diversity within the Cherokee people, and this web site is the end result of those efforts. Want to help us?There are lots of ways that you can help us complete our mission. Visit our How to Contribute page for more information. "Until there is a tribe that accepts everyone, I will join no tribe!" -- Gary Wright II |

"The time will come... when the few remnants of our once happy and improving Nation will be viewed by posterity with curious and gazing interest as relics of a brave and noble race... Perhaps, only here and there a solitary being, walking, 'as a ghost over the ashes of his fathers,' to remind a stranger that such a race once existed."
-- Elias Boudinot - November 25th, 1836
