A Cherokee in Egypt? When Two Worlds Collide...

Saturday, September 12th, 2009

My Cherokee Tears Project received international attention this week, so thank you to everyone who have visited the site: Cherokee Tears

Even as a mere boy child, I have always been enthralled with the culture of ancient Egypt. I got to meet the pharoah Ramses at Emory in Atlanta, and one of my lifelong dreams has been to visit Egypt.

As a Cherokee boy in Alabama dreaming of Egypt, I would have never imagined that there would be an Egyptian boy who was fascinated with Native American culture.

The two worlds collided this week when I met the founder of Civilizations Bridge. I was invited to attend and present an exhibit at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina International (Alexandria International Festival) on October 17th to 31st, 2009. Unfortunately, I'm not able to attend, but we are making plans for a trip to Egypt in the future.

Alexandria is "The City of Peace" and a very beautiful city! The Library is huge and there are no words to describe the architecture of this world-class library of knowledge.

"If ever we find ourselves with nothing in common, let us start by remembering that we all look up at the exact same moon. Our common ground is right there in the sky. Let's start at the moon, and then work our way back down to earth."
