House fails to override Veto on bill that restricts tortureWednesday, March 12th, 2008Bush vetoed a bill that would restrict torture to the nineteen methods listed in the Army manual. A lot of people have arguments over the definition of torture - but I can make it simple: If it IS NOT torture, then let me do it to YOU! I am really disappointed that the vote in the House of Representatives fell short of the two-thirds majority required to overturn the veto. The vote was 225-118 and mostly fell across party lines. The representatives who voted against this bill no longer deserve to represent "the people" and I hope each of you reading this will express your opinion by voting them out of office during the next election. If they don?t have the balls to stand up against torture - they suck as human beings and are spineless. This issue is not about politics - it is about what is right and what is humane. Many of the techniques now "legal" were used at the Nazi concentration camps during the holocaust. America - we can do much better than this! 188 NAYS: 2 Democrats / 185 Republicans / 17 No Votes Here is an alphabetical list of those who failed us.
The following idiots voted NO:
These folks decided not to vote: I hope all of my fellow citizens will join me at the voting booth and vote these people out of office. -- Gary Wright II |
