Proud to be a Cherokee!

I am giving up on helping my Cherokee brothers and sisters!

Sunday, January 27th, 2008

I had a dream that one day all Native American tribes would be united and that DNA evidence could be used to prove ancestry instead of the incomplete rolls.

The nationally recognized tribes are still battling to remain sovereign, and the state recognized tribes have become elitists and don't want anyone else 'getting a piece of their pie." Unless the Cherokee tribal council invites me to join them on the reservation, I'm throwing in the towel.

Since I don't have children and my nephew is the "end of the line" with blood quantum, there is no one in my family that would benefit from the tough fight it would take to win on this issue.

I'm going to post the research that I've already done, but I give up on trying to preserve a shattered and dying nation.

"If ever we find ourselves with nothing in common, let us start by remembering that we all look up at the exact same moon. Our common ground is right there in the sky. Let's start at the moon, and then work our way back down to earth."
