Why John McCain can't and will never be our President!

Thursday, May 3, 2007

The following text is a letter I just sent to John McCain:

I have always considered you as an honest and honorable man, but I just lost ALL RESPECT for you for your support on keeping the failed Don't Ask, Don't Tell policy.

Simply - Don't Ask, Don't Tell, Don't Work!

I was a 4.0 sailor who in less than four years I rose from E1 to E5 (FC2 - Petty Officer Second Class). I was awarded the Navy Achievement Medal for my leadership as work center supervisor. I was a plank owner of an Aegis destroyer and was the first Sailor of the Quarter. I was also awarded Citizen of the Year by Galveston for my work with charities. I aced every test and was recognized by numerous letters of commendation.

I was kicked out of the military for reporting the harassment of a fellow sailor because of his "perceived sexuality." The command asked (which violated the policy), and I told. I said it is wrong to discriminate for ANY reason.

Gays and lesbians have proudly served their country throughout history, and there is NO GOOD REASON why they should not be allowed to serve as openly gay Americans. I have heard many excuses for the policy, but none of them hold water. The danger exists by not allowing them to serve openly. It is because of this policy that they could possibly be blackmailed.

I would like to know your reasons for supporting this policy. I thought by your own service record, that you would understand this issue better than anyone. I am extremely disappointed in you, and unless you come around quickly on this issue and other issues of equality ? you will have zero chances of being elected President.
