Gay / Lesbian Nativity Scene in Italy ParliamentThursday, December 21, 2006
ANCHE IN ITALIA IL MATRIMONIO GAY COME NELLA SPAGNA DI ZAPATERO This placard was displayed in Italy Parliament by deputies Bruno Mellano and Donatella Porretti in front of dolls representing two gay couples. For those of you who wanted to know - one lesbian is blonde and the other a brunette. Spain legalized gay marriage last year, and they have a Socialist government. The reference was to Prime Minister Zapatero. The two deputies are with Italy's Radical Party, but they are in a predominantly Catholic country. The Nativity scene was to support a law that would give unmarried couples some of the same rights as married couples. It is an embarassment that Europe is beating the US (aka Land of the Free) when it comes to the equality of human rights. I am so thankful to live in Atlanta inside the "Fruit Loop"! |

"If ever we find ourselves with nothing in common, let us start by remembering that we all look up at the exact same moon. Our common ground is right there in the sky. Let's start at the moon, and then work our way back down to earth."
