Eating Horses is now illegal - Congress must not have any damn horse sense!Thursday, September 07, 2006
I hope today's post will encourage you to vote in the upcoming elections: Our education system has failed us, our health care system has imploded, we are in the middle of a civil war that we created in Iraq, losing the war in Afganistan, losing the "war on terror", and have lost "the war on drugs", and our country could not be in a more precarious position right now. Why are our representatives wasting time on such stupid issues??? I am outraged, but luckily my rep (Cynthia McKinney) did not waste her time to vote on this issue. I am a Cherokee Tsalagi, and I love horses along with every other living creature. I would never support the mistreatment of any animal - but this legislation is stupid. If horses are now illegal to eat, why is it still legal to eat cows? still legal to eat chickens? Is one species more deserving than the other? I believe that killing an animal for food is more justified than for any other reason. For the record, I have never eaten a horse. I don't think I have ever been out to dinner where they were serving horses. Regardless of your stand on this issue, I can't figure out a way to justify this when there are so many other important issues. Do the Katrina storm survivors have food to eat? That is more important.
